Here’s what’s going on.
The reunion dates are set for July 30th and 31st, 2010. Your cost: $30 per person.
Friday night let’s all get together at RC’s for drinks and a chance to shoot the bull.Nothing fancy, just a chance to catch up and see what’s been going on.There will be some snacks, but I recommend eating diner before or afterwards.For those of you who haven’t been to RC’s, they have a full bar and a small casino attached.
As for Saturday, the day is yours!Take some time, hit the local wineries, sample some applets and cotlets, and grab a bite at a local Taco truck, but save yourself for the feast that evening.Cocktail hour begins at 6:30pm at El Valle and dinner will be served at 7:30pm.In true Sunnyside tradition, this is an all-you-can-eat affair.

I’m trying to reconcile this. Was the Silver Slippersouth of the Royal Nevada? Were these two places ever actually open atthe same time? Editor’s note: Our 2007 story on Carol Dweck’s research into mindsets is still one of the most popular articles we’ve ever published. More than half a million people have read it online. More than ten years later, Dweck’s essential finding — that children who have a “growth mindset” that intelligence can be developed are better able to overcome academic stumbling blocks than those who have a “fixed mindset” that intelligence is predetermined — is as relevant as ever. Her work has influenced research across the social sciences and reached tens of thousands of schoolchildren nationwide. (It has also been distorted and oversimplified by some, as we .) In 2017, the Stanford psychologist became an inaugural recipient of the $3.8 million Yidan Prize, the world’s largest international prize in education research and development.ONE DAY LAST NOVEMBER, psychology professor Carol Dweck welcomed a pair of visitors from the Blackburn Rovers, a soccer team in the United Kingdom’s Premier League. The Rovers’ training academy is ranked in England’s top three, yet performance director Tony Faulkner had long suspected that many promising players weren’t reaching their potential. Ignoring the team’s century-old motto — arte et labore, or “skill and hard work” — the most talented individuals disdained serious training.On some level, Faulkner knew the source of the trouble: British soccer culture held that star players are born, not made. If you buy into that view, and are told you’ve got immense talent, what’s the point of practice? If anything, training hard would tell you and others that you’re merely good, not great. Faulkner had identified the problem; but to fix it, he needed Dweck’s help.A 60-year-old academic psychologist might seem an unlikely sports motivation guru. But Dweck’s expertise — and her recent book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success — bear directly on the sort of problem facing the Rovers. Through more than three decades of systematic research, she has been figuring out answers to why some people achieve their potential while equally talented others don’t — why some become Muhammad Ali and others Mike Tyson. The key, she found, isn’t ability; it’s whether you look at ability as something inherent that needs to be demonstrated or as something that can be developed.Quincy 777 casino in shorter alabama. These days, she’s sought out wherever motivation and achievement matter, from education and parenting to business management and personal development.AS A GRADUATE STUDENT AT YALE, Dweck started off studying animal motivation. In the late 1960s, a hot topic in animal research was “learned helplessness”: lab animals sometimes didn’t do what they were capable of because they’d given up from repeat failures. Dweck wondered how humans coped with that. “I asked, ‘What makes a really capable child give up in the face of failure, where other children may be motivated by the failure?’” she recalls.Occasional Liars 4At the time, the suggested cure for learned helplessness was a long string of successes. Dweck posited that the difference between the helpless response and its opposite — the determination to master new things and surmount challenges — lay in people’s beliefs about why they had failed. People who attributed their failures to lack of ability, Dweck thought, would become discouraged even in areas where they were capable. Those who thought they simply hadn’t tried hard enough, on the other hand, would be fueled by setbacks. This became the topic of her PhD dissertation.Students for whom performance is paramount want to look smart even if it means not learning a thing in the process.Dweck and her assistants ran an experiment on elementary school children whom school personnel had identified as helpless. These kids fit the definition perfectly: if they came across a few math problems they couldn’t solve, for example, they no longer could do problems they had solved before — and some didn’t recover that ability for days.Through a series of exercises, the experimenters trained half the students to chalk up their errors to insufficient effort, and encouraged them to keep going. Those children learned to persist in the face of failure — and to succeed. The control group showed no improvement at all, continuing to fall apart quickly and to recover slowly. These findings, says Dweck, “really supported the idea that the attributions were a key ingredient driving the helpless and mastery-oriented patterns.” Her 1975 article on the topic has become one of the most widely cited in contemporary psychology.Attribution theory, concerned with people’s judgments about the causes of events and behavior, already was an active area of psychological research. But the focus at the time was on how we make attributions, explains Stanford psychology professor Lee Ross, who coined the term “fundamental attribution error” for our tendency to explain other people’s actions by their character traits, overlooking the power of circumstances. Dweck, he says, helped “shift the emphasis from attributional errors and biases to the consequences of attributions — why it matters what attributions people make.” Dweck had put attribution theory to practical use.She continued to do so as an assistant professor at the University of Illinois, collaborating with then-graduate student Carol Diener to have children “think out loud” as they faced problem-solving tasks, some too difficult for them. The big surprise: some of the children who put forth lots of effort didn’t make attributions at all. These children didn’t think they were failing. Diener puts it this way: “Failure is information — we label it failure, but it’s more like, ‘This didn’t work, I’m a problem solver, and I’ll try something else.’” During one unforgettable moment, one boy — something of a poster child for the mastery-oriented type — faced his first stumper by pulling up his chair, rubbing his hands together, smacking his lips and announcing, “I love a challenge.”Such zest for challenge helped explain why other capable students thought they lacked ability just because they’d hit a setback. Common sense suggests that ability inspires self-confidence. And it does for a while — so long as the going is easy. But setbacks change everything. Dweck realized — and, with colleague Elaine Elliott soon demonstrated — that the difference lay in the kids’ goals. “The mastery-oriented children are really hell-bent on learning something,” Dweck says, and “learning goals” inspire a different chain of thoughts and behaviors than “performance goals.”Students for whom performance is paramount want to look smart even if it means not learning a thing in the process. For them, each task is a challenge to their self-image, and each setback becomes a personal threat. So they pursue only activities at which they’re sure to shine — and avoid the sorts of experiences necessary to grow and flourish in any endeavor. Students with learning goals, on the other hand, take necessary risks and don’t worry about failure because each mistake becomes a chance to learn. Dweck’s insight launched a new field of educational psychology — achievement goal theory.Dweck’s next question: what makes students focus on different goals in the first place? During a sabbatical at Harvard, she was discussing this with doctoral student Mary Bandura (daughter of legendary Stanford psychologist Albert Bandura), and the answer hit them: if some students want to show off their ability, while others want to increase their ability, “ability” means different things to the two groups. “If you want to demonstrate something over and over, it feels like something static that lives inside of you — whereas if you want to increase your ability, it feels dynamic and malleable,” Dweck explains. People with performance goals, she reasoned, think intelligence is fixed from birth. People with learning goals have a growth mindset about intelligence, believing it can be developed. (Among themselves, psychologists call the growth mindset an “incremental theory,” and use the term “entity theory” for the fixed mindset.) The model was nearly complete (see diagram).Infographic: Nigel HolmesGROWING UP IN BROOKLYN in the ’50s, Dweck did well in elementary school, earning a spot in a sixth-grade class of other high achievers. Not just any spot, it turned out. Their teacher, Mrs. Wilson, seated the students in IQ order and even used IQ scores to dole out classroom responsibilities. Whether Mrs. Wilson meant to or not, she was conveying her belief in fixed intelligence. Dweck, who was in row 1, seat 1, believes Mrs. Wilson’s intentions were good. The experience didn’t scar her — Dweck says she already had some of the growth mindset — but she has shown that many students pegged as bright, especially girls, don’t fare as well.Tests, Dweck notes, are notoriously poor at measuring potential. Take a group of adults and ask them to draw a self-portrait. Most Americans think of drawing as a gift they don’t have, and their portraits look no better than a child’s scribbles. But put them in a well-designed class — as Betty Edwards, the author of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, has — and the resulting portraits look so skilled it’s hard to believe they’re the work of the same “talentless” individuals. The belief that you can’t improve stunts achievement.Culture can play a large role in shaping our beliefs, Dweck says. A college physics teacher recently wrote to Dweck that in India, where she was educated, there was no notion that you had to be a genius or even particularly smart to learn physics. “The assumption was that everyone could do it, and, for the most part, they did.” But what if you’re raised with a fixed mindset about physics — or foreign languages or music? Not to worry: Dweck has shown that you can change the mindset itself.The most dramatic proof comes from a recent study by Dweck and Lisa Sorich Blackwell of low-achieving seventh graders. All students participated in sessions on study skills, the brain and the like; in addition, one group attended a neutral session on memory while the other learned that intelligence, like a muscle, grows stronger through exercise. Training students to adopt a growth mindset about intelligence had a catalytic effect on motivation and math grades; students in the control group showed no improvement despite all the other interventions.“Study skills and learning skills are inert until they’re powered by an active ingredient,” Dweck explains. Students may know how to study, but won’t want to if they believe their efforts are futile. “If you target that belief, you can see more benefit than you have any reason to hope for.”The classroom workshop isn’t feasible on a large scale; for one thing, it’s too costly. So Dweck and Blackwell have designed a computer-based training module to simulate the live intervention. Their hip multimedia software, called Brainology, is still in development, but thanks to early buzz from a Time magazine article and Dweck’s recent book, teachers have begun clamoring for it, one even asking to become a distributor.Unlike much that passes for wisdom about education and performance, Dweck’s conclusions are grounded in solid research. She’s no rah-rah motivational coach proclaiming the sky’s the limit and attitude is everything; that’s too facile. But the evidence shows that if we hold a fixed mindset, we’re bound not to reach as high as we might.‘What makes a really capable child give up in the face of failure, where other children may be motivated by the failure?’ALTHOUGH MUCH OF DWECK’S RESEARCH on mindsets has taken place in school settings, it’s applicable to sports, business, interpersonal relationships and so on. “Lots and lots of people are interested in her work; it touches on so many different areas of psychology and areas outside of psychology,” says Stanford psychology professor Mark Lepper, ’66, who as department chair in 2004 lured Dweck away from Columbia, where she’d been for 15 years. “The social psychologists like to say she’s a social psychologist; the personality psychologists say she’s a personality psychologist; and the developmental psychologists say she’s a developmental psychologist,” Lepper adds.By all rights, her appeal should transcend academia, says New Yorker writer Malcolm Gladwell, who is well known for making psychological research accessible to the general public. “One of the most popular pieces I ever did relied very heavily on work done by Carol Dweck,” he said in a December interview in the Journal of Management Inquiry. “Carol Dweck deserves a big audience. On June 25, 2015, Judge William Shashy dismissed the civil forfeiture case against Victoryland brought after the Attorney General Luther Strange’s office executed a search warrant in 2013 seizing $263,106 in cash and 1,615 gaming machines. Judge Shashy said ’The state could not and did not offer any substantive reason why it permitted this state of affairs to continue at other facilities, while taking its present stance against the same operations at Victoryland…The propriety of the State of Alabama electing to currently pursue action against only one facility is of great concern. It is apparent at the present time that the State of Alabama is cherrypicking which facilities should remain open or closed. This Court refuses to be used an instrument to perpetuate unfair treatment,’ This gave Victoryland the right to re-open with full operations able to resume.[10]

An employee of a holding or intermediary company of a casino is not required to establish New Jersey residency. N.J.S.A. 5:12-89b(4).Close Temporary Casino Key Employee Licenses
A casino or a holding or intermediary company of a casino cannot employ a person in a position that requires a Casino Key Employee License unless the person holds a Casino Key Employee License or a Temporary Casino Key Employee License. To request a temporary license, a casino must file a petition with the Commission certifying that a vacancy exists or will exist within 60 days, the issuance of a temporary key employee license is necessary to fill the vacancy on an emergency basis to continue the efficient operation of the casino, and that the circumstances are extraordinary and not designed to circumvent normal licensing procedures. The Commission may issue a temporary license provided a complete application for a Casino Key Employee License is filed and the Division of Gaming Enforcement concurs. A temporary license is valid for nine (9) months unless otherwise terminated, and is valid only for the position requested in the petition and at the casino(s) specified on the license credential. N.J.S.A. 5:12-89e and N.J.A.C. 19:41A-5.3.Close Multi-Casino Employee Endorsement - Key Employee
A casino key employee may perform compatible functions for two or more affiliated casinos provided the Division of Gaming Enforcement does not object and the Commission grants a multi-casino employee (MCE) endorsement. To request an MCE endorsement, the affiliated casinos must file a joint petition certifying that no incompatible functions will exist. If a temporary casino key employee license with an MCE endorsement is sought, the affiliated casinos may submit an electronic petition form. An MCE endorsement is valid only for the position requested in the petition and at the casinos specified on the license credential. N.J.S.A. 5:12-91.1 and N.J.A.C. 19:41A-5.4.Close Five Year Review - Casino Key EmployeeHow Do I Get A Nj Casino Employee Registration License
No later than five years after obtaining a Casino Key Employee License, and every five years thereafter, the licensee shall submit information and documentation to the Commission to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Commission that the licensee continues to meet the qualification requirements. N.J.S.A. 5:12-94h(1) and N.J.A.C. 19:41A-6. The informational filing due date appears on the license credential. At that time, the licensee must file a Casino Key Employee License Review Application and the required application fee if they are still working in a position that requires a casino key employee license or if they otherwise wish to maintain the license. The original form and one copy are required. You must also submit two copies of all Federal and New Jersey tax returns filed since your last application. The Key Employee Public Information List identifies all individuals with a status of Applicant, Inactive, Licensed, and Temporary. It is divided into three parts:
The first part lists all current Casino Key Employee licensees, temporary licensees, and applicants. It includes the following fields: Name, First Name, Middle Name, License Number, Status, Issue Date, and Valid Through Date.
The second part lists all approved inactive Casino Key Employee licenses. It includes the following fields: Name, First Name, Middle Name, License Number, Status, Approval Code, and Approval Date. Persons on the Approved Inactive List may reactivate their licenses by filing a resubmission with the Commission prior to employment in a position that requires a Casino Key Employee license. N.J.A.C. 19:41A-6.1(e). Persons inactive over one year should call the Licensing & Financial Evaluation Unit at (609) 441-3441 for guidance before filing any forms.
The third part lists all inactive Casino Key Employee licenses. It includes the following fields: Name, First Name, Middle Name, License Number, Status, Issue Date, and Valid Through Date. Persons who held a Casino Key Employee license but did not seek placement on the Approved Inactive List, or persons who were on the inactive list for more than five years, need to complete a new license application before they can be employed in a position that requires a Casino Key Employee license.

Not much is known about this site aside from the fact that it was previously used as a research facility, making it unable to handle the quantity of SCPs it currently possesses. Sometime after this, Dr. Maynard and Security Agent Skinner both join the unspecified site. They are working undercover as Chaos Insurgency operatives while posing as Foundation members in order to trigger a containment breach. At this point Dr. Maynard and the Engineering and Technical Services Department initiate a concept called the Modular Site Project. This project is intended to be a redesign of both the facility’s layout and its security systems in order to accommodate the workload and containment chambers of the newly relocated SCPs. Throughout SCP - Containment Breach, several computer monitors can be found pointing out problems and security risks caused by the Modular Site Project, which leads to the presumption that Dr. Maynard started the project in order to make the site more vulnerable to containment breaches.[Hooper Monitor][Office Monitor]
On an unknown date at 9:00, Agent Carey and Security Agent Skinner begin their morning shift of monitoring SCP-106’s containment chamber. Between that time and 9:21, Carey leaves to go get coffee from the cafeteria.[Incident Report SCP-106-0204]
While Carey is gone, Agent Skinner uses this opportunity to release SCP-106 from containment. He sets off the site-wide alarm and informs Security Chief Franklin of the breach. Skinner then sends a message to Dr. Maynard saying, ’It’s out.’, referring to SCP-106. He then presumably flees the site while its staff are dealing with the breach.[Dr. Maynard’s Monitor]
Dr. Maynard replies, ’Proceeding.’ and heads down to Heavy Containment Zone where he slips into the control room of SCP-079’s containment chamber. He then gives SCP-079 access to every major system in the site. When 079 questions Dr. Maynard about this, he responds ’You’re free now. Free to give the ones who imprisoned you what they deserve.’ Maynard then flees the containment chamber.[SCP-079’s Control Room Monitor]
SCP-106 is eventually re-contained with a lure subject and Agent Carey is disciplined for having left his post. The site then presumes that Agent Skinner was abducted by SCP-106.
Half an hour later Researcher Ferguson notices that the blast doors in SCP-079’s containment chamber have begun to malfunction. The site assumes that this was caused by SCP-106 having damaged its blast doors, as it had traverse SCP-079’s chamber during the breach. Unbeknownst to the rest of the site SCP-079 is actually keeping the blast doors shut.The containment breach
Later on the same day as SCP-106’s breach, Subject D-9341, along with 2 other Class-D Personnel, are pulled from their cells in order to perform a test involving SCP-173.
Along the way to the testing chamber, a scientist can be overheard talking to someone else about the SCP-106 breach. The scientist mentions never hearing of an Agent Skinner and reveals that Dr. L. had been shaken up after the breach, causing him to have auditory hallucinations.
D-9341 is then taken to SCP-173’s containment chamber, where the 2 other Class-Ds are waiting. As the testing is about to commence the remote control door system and electricity begin to malfunction. Shortly after, SCP-079 starts a site-wide containment failure, causing several Euclid and Keter SCPs to breach containment. The site is then immediately put under lockdown and Nine-Tailed Fox operatives are sent into the site shortly afterwards to re-contain the escaped SCPs and terminate any rogue Class-Ds they encounter.
Along the way, the player discovers a note in Dr. Maynard’s office stating ’YOU MADE IT SO EASY, NICE WORK FOUNDATION’, with ’it’ referring to the containment breach. SCP-106’s corrosion can also be found in the office. This, along with the fact that a document showing the new passcode to Dr. Maynard’s office can be found in the Pocket Dimension, leads to the assumption that he was abducted by SCP-106.
Several notes left by Dr. L. reveal that he had begun to go insane after the breach had started and encountered SCP-106 on multiple occasions, before being abducted by it as well.EndingsThe image used on the game’s end screen.

In the latest research, two MIMO-based techniques: Space-time block code (STBC) and Uncoded space-time labelling diversity (USTLD) have been considered for improving the performance of mobile satellite communication systems. When constellations with two different binary mappings are used in USTLD, a significant improvement in error performance is observed as compared to single binary mapping in STBC. Traditionally, M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (MQAM) is the popular modulation scheme for general wireless communications systems. However, circular constellations are deemed more suitable for satellite links as compared to square and rectangular modulation schemes owing to their reduced number of amplitude levels and lower peak-to-average power ratio. As a result, circular constellations, such as Amplitude Phase-Shift Keying (APSK) and M-ary Phase-Shift Keying (MPSK) form the basis of the latest broadcasting standards for nonlinear satellite links.
In recent research, Dr. Tahmid Quazi and Dr. Sulaiman Saleem Patel from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, School of Engineering, proposed a new USTLD system designed specifically for mobile satellite communications. The system uses the circular M-ary Amplitude Phase-Shift Keying (MAPSK) constellations used in the standard Digital Video Broadcasting standard for nonlinear satellite links. The innovative aspect of this system is comprised of the new design of secondary mappers to achieve labeling diversity. As the authors state in their paper, this is the most critical aspect of developing a USLTD system. The proposed mapper designs exploits the similarity in structure between square MQAM and certain M-ary Amplitude Phase-Shift Keying (MAPSK), and adapts the heuristic-based algorithms used in the MQAM to produce secondary mappers for the appropriate MAPSK constellations from the DVB-S2X standard. Bit error rate performance of the proposed system showed gains of 4dB and 5dB for 16 APSK and 64 APSK respectively when compared to the existing STBC system. Furthermore, these results were used in a study for investigating the most suitable metrics for quantitatively comparing USTLD mapper designs. The investigation showed that none of the metrics are individually suitable. As such, a two-stage approach for comparing the minimum product Euclidean distance of the mapper designs was put forward. When the metrics are found to be equal in the first step, the second stage is used in ranking based on the minimum summed product Euclidean distance. Interestingly, the approach was used correctly to rank the MQAM and MAPSK-USTLD mapper designs considered in the paper.
In summary, the scholars presented a new two-step methodology for an accurate comparison of the Uncoded Space-Time Labelling Diversity mapper designs. The feasibility of this method was successfully validated in the first design of the Amplitude Phase-Shift Keying-based USTLD satellite system. The results of this research have formed the basis for other research articles which are currently under review with leading international journals.
